Every bit helps! Conserving water by replanting urban parkways

Emily Green, columnist for the LA Times, recently wrote an article touting the benefits of replacing grass parkways with alternative plants and groundcover.  One groundcover the article suggests homeowners use is decomposed granite.  Green writes that, "There may be a better choice than decomposed granite, but it’s hard to imagine.
