Desalination facility planned for San Diego County

A new desalination plant has been approved in Carlsbad, California.  The San Diego Water board gave a final approval for the construction of the largest water desalination plant in the Western Hemisphere.  The proposed cost is $320 million and is one of about 20 projects planned for California.  The plant could be operational by 2012 and produced 50 million gallons per day or 10% of the supply for San Diego County.  To read the article, click here.
