Drought, Humans Affecting the Future of Joshua Trees in Southern California

A recent Press-Enterprise article discussed the bleak future of Southern California’s beloved Joshua tree.  Janet Zimmerman reported that the plants will soon become extinct due to an amalgamation of drought, fire, and human created pollution.  In the next 100 years, according to six different environmental models, not only will the Joshua trees fail to reproduce, but existing trees will slowly die off.  Californians need to be aware of the impact that our lives have on the local flora and fauna.  What a sad day when Joshua Tree National Park would have to be renamed because there were no more Joshua trees.  For more information visit:
