How to properly deal with native plants in your 100' defensible spaceThe U.S. Fire Administration has prepared a one-page how-to on maintaining what they call a defensible space. There are also other tips to help you ensure that your house is as safe as possible for the upcoming fire season. And remember, keeping your house fire proof is a year round job.
One thing the USFA suggests is to keep at least 50' of your 100' of defensible space native plants. They also warn against destroying the root systems of native plants
